Valletta: Between Faith, Power And Everyday Life

Discover the city of the Knights through its streets, churches, architecture, and the stories of those who inhabited it.

ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Valletta is an open-air museum, where its streets, churches, monuments and houses preserve stories from different eras. Each place brings us closer to the people who lived here and the beliefs that were part of their daily lives.

Throughout the tour we will discover how faith and devotion gave rise to stories of miracles, promises, and thanks. In some cases, these promises and expressions of gratitude left a mark on the city, leading to the construction of churches, monasteries, chapels, monuments, and other spaces of prayer. Some of these places continue to be visited by those who come to ask for help, give thanks, or fulfill a promise.

An experience to discover Valletta through its stones, its stories and the faith of those who have inhabited it and keep these traditions alive.

WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER?

Along the way you will discover:

  • The stories of Knights, religious and inhabitants who gave life to Valletta.
  • The meaning of balconies, stairs, gates, sculptures and other details that we find along the way.
  • The stories of saints, churches and traditions that keep the faith alive in Malta.
  • Valletta’s relationship with the sea, trade and coffee.
  • Lesser-known stories about slavery, prisons, and justice in the time of the Knights.
  • Viewpoint of the Grand Harbor in Barrakka Gardens and its views over the Three Cities.
  • One of the most unique stories of Valletta: that of a confraternity of the Holy Rosary that accompanied those condemned to death, praying for them and offering them spiritual support until their last moments. An example of how faith and mercy were also part of the life of the city.
