Mdina & Rabat – From The Ancient Capital To St. Paul’s Grotto

From the City of Silence to the stories that remain under its streets.

About This Experience

Mdina and Rabat share a long history, but each reveals a different chapter of Malta’s past.

The experience begins in Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta, where we walk through medieval streets, palaces, churches and bastions while exploring its role as a centre of political, religious and social life.

We then continue to Rabat, following the history of the ancient settlement of Melite, the arrival of Christianity and the traditions connected with St. Paul. Along the way, we discover how different communities shaped both the streets above and the spaces beneath them.

The experience ends at St. Paul’s Grotto, bringing together the history, archaeology and Christian traditions that connect Mdina and Rabat.
